Weddings at Blackwater Falls are special and planners need basic information to decide if an outdoor venue is appropriate for your wedding day.

The cost involved in using an outdoor area at Blackwater Falls State Park for the ceremony is a $70 site maintenance fee.  Because the state park is an area open to the public, no outdoor area may be blocked off for only weddings and wedding guests.  Weddings may have onlookers at your event, but actual interruptions of a ceremony usually are not a problem.  Be sure to make and consider alternate plans in the event of inclement weather. Based on availability the park may have up to 100 chairs available for an outdoor ceremony at the cost of $2 per chair. West Virginia sales tax (6%)is applied to all fees.

Overnight accommodations at Blackwater Falls Lodge or cabins are priced according to the season.  Group reservations may be made up to two years in advance but price quotes are only made one year in advance.  Our rates are posted on the website, under the 'rate' tab on this page.  There is a two night minimum stay on most weekends; the holiday weekends often require a three night minimum stay and are priced higher. There are 54 guest rooms in the lodge.

Cabins are also available for overnight accommodations. There are minimums for weekend rentals and during the summer months the cabins are rented by the week only or 3 and 4 night packages.  We have three different size cabins –2 people, 4 person and 8 person.  Cabin rates are listed on our 'rates' pages.

Overnight accommodation rates are subject to West Virginia state sales tax and the 6% local hotel/motel tax.

The Blackwater Falls conference center will seat about 150 guests with floor space for a head table and dancing.  Without any guest room rental, the center will cost $475.00, plus $275.00 set up fee. With the rental of 25 or more guest rooms, there is no charge for the center, but the set-up fee is still collected.  All activities in the conference center must end by 10:00PM if the lodge isn't completely reserved by the wedding party. 

All food and beverage served in the conference center must be by the food and beverage service at Blackwater Falls Lodge, the wedding cake is the exception to this food guideline.  There is no storage space for a cake; therefore is must be brought to the facility on the day of the reception. Contact the Food and Beverage Manager, Kayla Hallem regarding food services.  Food services at Blackwater Falls State Park restaurant and conference center catering is operated by Canaan Valley Resort State Park.

Weddings are welcome to decorate the conference center. Candles must be in a votive or covered by globes.

The type of attachment used for decorations to walls, windows, or ceiling must be approved. Decorations are normally done the day before or the morning of the wedding and in most cases must be taken down the next day or that same night.  Scheduling of the room rental will include discussion of extended use for set up and tear down. You must also provide your own minister or official to perform the wedding ceremony.
