February 13 - 15
The Great Back Yard Bird Count
Blackwater Falls State Park

A morning and afternoon ‘look and listen’ bird walks will survey our feathered friends in several locations at Blackwater Falls.
• February 13: Walk begins at the sled run, 4 p.m.
• February 14: Walk begins at lodge, 6:30 a.m.
• February 14: Walk meets at the campground gate, 4:30 p.m.
• February 15: Walks begins at nature center, 7 a.m.
No charge to join the walks. Other activities planned throughout the weekend.

Easter Egg Hunt
Blackwater Falls State Park

An old-fashioned egg hunt with prize eggs for children 12 and younger to find and keep.
A visit from the Easter Bunny will be in order too! 
Hunt is at the Harold S. Walters Nature Center.

Wood Carving Weekend
Blackwater Falls State Park

Wood carver Nate Parr, will be at Blackwater Falls for three sessions of various stages of wood carving: using soap to demonstrate techniques, hand/knife carving, and larger wood carving using a chainsaw. Nate Parr’s work is exhibited and for sale at MountainMade.com.
Pre-registration is recommended.  There is a $10 activity fee per session.

A Country Music Murder Mystery – Dinner Theater
Blackwater Falls State Park

The three Bodine Sisters are ready to hit the road. Join them as they present their farewell concert before leaving to seek fame and fortune.  But will there be more than music in the air?  A murder will be committed and you are needed to help solve the crime.  Overnight package includes overnight room, dinner and theater who-dun-it. Package rate: $175 per package double occupancy.  Reservation required.

Family Trail Day
Blackwater Falls State Park and
Canaan Valley Resort State Park

This event features the eight-mile walk between Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks. Shorter walks are also featured. This event is co-sponsored by Blackwater Falls State Park, Canaan Valley State Park, and the West Virginia Scenic Trails Association.

48th Annual West Virginia Wildflower Pilgrimage
Blackwater Falls State Park

An interpretative weekend packed with bird walks, wildflower tours, nature programs, beginner wildflower and bird identification workshops, craft exhibits and sales Annual Event.
The event is co-sponsored by the WV Federation of Garden Clubs and the WV Division of Natural Resources.  Advance reservations and registration required.

West Virginia Day!
Irish Road Bowling – Lilly Mountaineers
Blackwater Falls State Park

A day full of activities from Irish Road Bowling with the WV Irish Road Bowling Association, tie-dyed t-shirts, traditional mountain music with the Lilly Mountaineers.
• Irish Road Bowling starts at 1:30 p.m. and registration fee: Adult $12, Children 12 and under $8.

• Tie dye Tee-shirt Craft.  Activity fee of $6 to cover materials. 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Harold S. Walters Nature Center.
• Lilly Mountaineers Concert.  8 p.m.  Blackwater Falls Conference Center.  Admission: $5 per person.

Independence Day Events

Mountaineer Days in Thomas, WV is all about fun. Fireworks, Crafts, Parade, Fireman's' Battle, Bands, Tucker Community chorus. July 5, at nearby Canaan Valley Resort, is the Celebration of the Arts, featuring the Wheeling Symphony at 3PM. Many events at no charge during the weekend. Reservations suggested at Blackwater Falls, 304-259-5216.

Three Rivers Avian Center (TRAC)

What bird says ‘who cooks for me, who cooks for you all?’  Don’t know!  Come to the Birds of Prey Educational Program featuring live birds of prey native to West Virginia.  Raptors including hawks and owls are part of this program. Learn about their habitat, diet and behaviors; most comment causes of injury. Open to the public.  No charge to attend. Great  family activity.

Astronomy Weekend
Blackwater Falls State Park

Workshops, keynote speakers, and star parties are some of the activities at this event with novice and more advanced amateur astronomers in mind.

Annual Leaf Peepers Festival – Davis, WV

Events, walks and celebrations of the fall season. One the earliest fall celebrations in the mountains. This celebration is capped off with the
