Blackwater Falls State Park is named for the falls of the Blackwater River whose amber-colored waters plunge five stories then twist and tumble through an eight-mile long gorge.
The "black" water is a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls are one of the most photographed sites in West Virginia.
Blackwater lodge, cabins and restaurant are open year-round and welcome visitors to enjoy winter sled riding, spring greening, cool summer evenings, and autumn foliage.
You’ll find good food, comfortable accommodations, and WiFi access if you must stay in touch while you're relaxing at Blackwater Falls.

Blackwater Falls Lodge Renovations In Begins
Blackwater Falls State Park thirty-nine cabins, the new sled run, and traditional trading post at the falls are open! Winter is a great time to rent a cabin and enjoy outdoor fun in Tucker County.
However, water lines original to the lodge structure are being replaced and electrical systems in the lodge are also under repair as ceiling and walls are opened. With the extensive renovation process, Blackwater Falls Lodge guest rooms and restaurant are closed and out of service in March and April 2015. Reservations May 1, 2015 and forward continue to be taken by telephone and online.
Don't let our improvements at the lodge stop you from calling or stopping in to say hello. You'll still find us at the front desk for cabin check-in or visit the gift shop. Restrooms are open at the lodge for visitor convenience.
